Cochin International Aviation Services Limited (CIASL) is building a state-of-the-art Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Cochin, the commercial and industrial hub of Kerala. CIASL is promoted by Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), the first Greenfield airport in India under public-private partnership.
CIAL has emerged as one of the busiest airports in India, currently operating with 15 International and 7 Domestic Airlines. Cochin has become a much sought after IT destination which has augmented the need for International business. It is now capable of handling International tourism at a much larger pace.
A 100% subsidiary of Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), CIASL aims to create a one-stop MRO facility for airframes and components, providing superior and cost-effective services. Strategically located in Cochin Airport covering an area of 32 Acres, CIASL MRO facility is designed to deliver high quality, value for money services and solutions to customers. It is planned to provide top Aircraft Maintenance Facility to ensure smooth operations of Airlines.
The MRO facility will grow in phases. The Phase I of the project includes 2 narrow body hangars with line maintenance, run-up bay, training academy and Aircraft parking. The infrastructure work of line maintenance is complete for Aircraft A320 and is ready to be commissioned. The phase II of the project proposes to include two additional narrow body hangars, 2 wide body hangars, additional parking bays and expansion of the aviation training academy.
CIAL Academy, the training division of CIASL, provides easy access to qualified and skilled personnel, a major requirement for the highly labour intensive maintenance and cabin refurbishment jobs. This is a fundamental factor in providing cost-effective services.
Core Benefits for Airlines:
- First of its kind MRO Facility in India
- Joint Venture with International partner to provide world-class infrastructure and logistics support
- Will offer easy accessibility, skilled manpower and low-cost services
- Need not depend on overseas MRO facilities for maintenance, consequently saving on time and cost.
